Representing internationally competitive ideas and experience, this week Powerhouse president Johan Hjertqvist and senior researcher dr Arne Björnberg will lecture in Dublin. The forum is the National Health Summit May 24-25.

The conference is described in this way by the hosts: "The Irish health service faces many challenges. Everyone agrees that both more investment and fundamental reform is necessary if we are to have a modern, efficient health service that is responsive to the needs of patients.

To that end the Sunday Business Post and iQuest, in association with BUPA Ireland, have organised the third National Health Summit, which will be held in Dublin on May 24, and 25 next. This event will focus on the business and delivery of healthcare and is designed to facilitate dialogue between the key health parties of government, public and private hospitals, health funds, doctors and other healthcare providers.

Now in its third successful year, the summit has become established as a premier event for anyone involved in the management and delivery of healthcare in Ireland".

Johan Hjertqvist will hold a keynote speech on "From weak patient to powerful consumer", visions and facts regarding consumer-driven health care in Europe.

Dr Björnberg will lecture on "International experience - what Ireland can learn from Sweden", addressing lessons from the Swedish internal market reforms in the 1990´s.
