Monopoly or competition?
The new leftist government of Slovakia has declared that it wants to get rid of the competition between insurance companies, funding the national healthcare system. Recently Johan Hjertqvist was invited to present the HCP quality ratings in Bratislava, in a seminar advocating that competition – not monopoly – is a condition for better healthcare. Mr Hjertqvist made clear that Slovakia the last few years has made significant progress, advancing in the EHCI rating of 34 European countries. “Why change a winning team, turning back to old, failed solutions?”, he asked the audience.
