Powerhouse to join IAPO

The Health Consumer Powerhouse will become an associate member of IAPO (The International Alliance of Patient Organizations).Attending the IAPO Annual Conference in London February 25-27 the Powerhouse President Johan Hjertqvist says:

- IAPO is a valuable source of knowledge and contacts for everybody relating to the health consumers. Participating in the discussion in London I hope to build new alliances preparing for the presentation of our EuroHealth Consumer Index later this year. Thus we contribute to the growing need for consumer empowerment tools.

Johan Hjertqvist in the European parliament

Johan Hjertqvist, the president of the Health Consumer Powerhouse, was invited to the EP Internal Market Committee hearing. The subject was the EU Commission Service Directive proposal. Mr Hjertqvist advocated that health services ought to be covered by the Directive. The consumer mobility across national member borders represents an important gain but not until care providers can move to the consumers access and quality of services will improve. Health consumer empowerment demand information systems of fering the foundation for informed choice and action, stated mr Hjertqvist. Given a consumer focussed strategy health care can become a European growth industry.
